Rivers state Governor
Soldiers have been deployed to Bonny, headquarters of Bonny local government area following the killing of five police officers by militant youths.

Governor Rotimi Amaechi, said this yesterday when the management of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) visited him at Government House, Port Harcourt.

He said the deployment of the soldiers will assist in stabilising the security situation on the island which is home to most of Nigeria’s oil and gas facilities.

Describing the events in Bonny that led to the death of the police officers as a security lapse, Amaechi said government was committed to the safety of lives, property and investments on the island.

He added that the state government was doing its best to address the security situation in Bonny and other parts of the state.

While calling on corporate organisations in the state to partner with the state government in developing the communities, the governor urged the NLNG management to do more in maintaining peace and promoting security on the island.

He blamed the economic difficulties in the Niger Delta region on the problem of food insecurity and unemployment, saying "those who are working with us in the oil and gas sector must partner with us to provide security in the area."

Earlier, the out-going Managing Director of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), Dr Chris Hayes, commended Governor Amaechi for confronting security challenges in the state.

Dr Hayes explained that even though the company was operating in challenging times, the NLNG has improved its production capacity from three production trains to six in the last few years.

Security of Niger Delta
The Niger Delta issue is beyond the state government. It is a cankerworm which has eaten deep into the fabrics of the Niger Delta. This issue is a result of years of neglect, deceit and political manipulations of the people and resources by the Military-Industrial Complex (Cabal) which has been sucking the people dry. To resolve this issue we need honest brokers and not the perpetrators posing as mediators.

RE; Deployment of soldiers
I think the issue of Niger Delta is fast becoming a kind of global issue and the earlier this issue is being addressed the better for the unity of this nation called Nigeria. In the first place, are the leaders of the various Niger Delta movements trusworthy and faithful to the cause they claim to be fighting for? Have they not turned this situation into money making opportunities? Lt them earnestly answer this questions first.Furthermore, let the Federal Govt address this before taking any further step on this delicate issue of Niger Delta crisis. Long Live Nigeria.

advice to the delta militants
the niger delta militants should learn to invest properly the monies given to them by government and stop harassing innocent citizens and destruction of public property. In addition they should learn to dialogue rather than embracing confrontation.

Security in Niger Delta
Niger Delta Security problem is hydraheaded.
Government should be able to take a posetive stand,by providing the necessary social amenities and then deal ruthlessly with criminals hidding under freedom struggle.
