WAEC cancels English Language examination nationwide

The West African Examinations Council
(WAEC), has cancelled its English
Language Paper One (Essay) of the ongoing May/June West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) which was scheduled to hold yesterday.

At a news conference in Lagos, the Head of the National Office of the council (HNO), Dr Iyi Uwadiae, said the paper would be taken on May 14.

Uwadiae said that Nigerian Languages examination earlier scheduled to take place on May 14 has been shifted to May 20.

The HNO said the cancellation was because of an alleged armed robbery attack on one of the council’s staff while conveying security materials relevant to the conduct of the examination.

He said the incident made WAEC to doubt the integrity of the English Language Paper One due to be administered.

Uwadiae said the council expressed regret over the inconvenience the cancellation would cause candidates and their parents.

The HNO said it was the culture of the council to discard any version of a test paper once its safety and integrity could not be guaranteed.

He assured that top management officers of the council will be involved in the inspection of the WASSCE examination nationwide.

He said that the council would continue to uphold its integrity, adding that it would not relent in contributing to education development in Nigeria. (NAN)

we can't stop u from saying ur interest
some pple they are just saying their interest but all what we know is;truth itruth even if everybody is against it!peace can only come to who invite it,b/c some pple are trying to prove their knowedge but at the end of the day they will end of displaying their ignorance, some of them they don\'t even know their so called religion but they are trying to abuse other\'s religion.look at what had happened in kano penultimate week is unfair and unjust, and if something happened some unthinkable pple will end of accusing them by saying they are terrorist,so these pple they value their own religion and they value other\'s religion b/c u never heard any muslim abusing jesus;and even if this happened such person doesn\'t know his own religion, there is no way that a good muslim will abuse jesus.so stop displaying ur ignorance pls and let peace reign.
