For the residents of Paulosa in Suleja, Niger State, one pathetic story they would not hesitate to tell anyone who cares to listen is their ugly experience in the hands of armed robbers who recently invaded the small settlement, ransacking all the houses.

The residents told Weekly Trust that the incident which took place in the midnight of Sunday, April 27, left one person with a gunshot injury and many others with matchet cuts.

One of the victims, Reverend Cadim Sadiq of the Living Grace Mission, revealed that the robbers invaded the town while residents were asleep and started combing one house to the other till they got to his house.

"When they got to my house," he said, "they broke in through the kitchen." "Immediately they came in, they collected my handset before demanding for money. They thought l had some money with me because the church had their thanksgiving service that Sunday. They also injured my hand with a cutlass and a rod. They collected what they could before moving to the next house. After a while, the vigilante came to our rescue".

Weekly Trust gathered that one of the vigilante group members, Mr. Magaji Galahi, who fell into the hands of the robbers, has a different story to tell because he is on hospital bed.

He said when the marauders tried to force their way into his house, he enquired who were trying to force open his door, but when they heard his voice, he said, they took to their heels.

"So, I ran after them to alert my colleagues on duty that night and we immediately organized ourselves and successfully chased them away. After that, I decided to go back home but unknown to me, the robbers had made a comeback through another way.

"I ran into them while I was returning home. At first, I thought they were my neighbours who came out to assist, but before I realised what was happening, they swooped on me before they shot me. The pellets pierced through my stomach and chest," he said.

He said the X-ray conducted indicates that some of the pellets are still in his body.

Another victim who pleaded anonymity, said the robbers carted valuable items and a large sum of money from his house.

When contacted, a police source at the Suleja police station confirmed the incident.
