Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, has pledged more support and assistance to the growth and development of Media Trust Limited, publishers of Daily, Weekly, Sunday Trust and Aminiya newspapers.

The emir was speaking while receiving the management of the company led by the Chairman of the board, Malam Kabiru Yusuf, at his palace in Katsina, who paid him a courtesy call as part of the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the company’s existence.

The emir congratulated the management of the outfit for the success recorded over the last 10 years.

He reiterated his council’s support for the organisation, urging the management to increase efforts to educate and enlighten the public.

The emir who was full of prayers for the continued success and progress of the company, called on the management to consider itself part and parcel of the emirate and feel free to always contact him or any of his councillors for support and necessary guidance.

"As you know, we operate an open door policy here because whatever affects the common man affects the emirate. I assure you of my 100 per cent support," he pledged.

He advised media practitioners to always verify their facts before going to press in order to avoid sensationalism which he is said was capable of jeopardising the stability of the society.

Earlier in his address, Chairman, Media Trust Limited, Alhaji Kabiru A. Yusuf, had intimated the emirs of the management decision to visit and seek the royal blessings and assistance of the emirs in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the organisation.

He said, the company which started with only five staff in 1998, now has about 400 from various parts of the country and is still struggling to contribute more of its quota to the growth and development of Nigeria.

Yusuf wished the new emir a successful reign as the 42nd Emir of Katsina.
