Federal Capital Territory National Youth Service Director, Mrs. Justina Andirfya, on Friday lambasted Corp Members on their negative attitudes of inducing heads of their assigned places of primary assignment to give them rejection letters as a cover up to be re -posted to their choice places. She made this remark at the NYSC temporary camp site located at Government Day Secondary School, Dutse, while fielding questions from our correspondent.

‘A lot of corps members are in the habit of inducing heads of the places they are posted to by the Directorate so as to come back to us that they have been rejected with a view of being re- posted elsewhere. This attitude is very worrisome. All of them want to be posted to the Central Bank, NNPC, Oil companies and other organizations for financial reasons forgetting that service to the country is not about money making. Could you imagine that someone who read B. ED will not want to teach in a school; all they want is quick money and after all this, they will complain of not having any place to serve,’ she complained.

The State’s Director enjoined corps members not to abandon anywhere they are posted because they do not like the place but rather, see it as a challenge that will prepare them for future endeavors.

She prays corps members to ease the work of the Directorate by observing all the rules and regulations enshrined in the handbook issued to them. More so, they should immediately report any welfare problems they are facing in their place of primary assignment to the secretariat for probable solutions. When asked about the problem of accommodation being constantly faced by corps members in the FCT, she replied thus, ‘ On the issue of accommodation, we asked the employers to provide for them or pay in lieu of it.
