The Federal Capital Territory Fire Service at Gwagwalada did not delay in responding to the inferno that gutted the house of the Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Khadi Ibrahim Imam. The fire killed his four children. The authorities’ commander (Operations), Akinola Segun, said they responded immediately they got the hint of the incidence. Segun said: "We went to the house together with the security man that broke the news to us. When we arrived at the house, we tried to open the back door to the children’s room but it was locked. We had to remove the air conditioner to enable us enter the apartment. But unfortunately the children were already dead when we got in. We ensured the fire did not affect the main apartment." Segun told City News that fire service officials could have extinguished the fire had the information reached them early enough. The cause of the fire was said to be from a spark from a generator.
