A Lawmaker representing Babura/ Bargi federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Alhaji Ibrahim Yushua Kanya has awarded scholarship to 600 indigent students currently studying in various Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education across the country. The scholarship is aimed at providing opportunities to students of humble backgrounds from Babura and Garki local government areas of Jigawa state, according to him. The lawmaker said each of the beneficiaries who is in far-flung Universities and other institutions, will be given N5000 to support his education. He said that although the gesture is little, it will nonetheless go along way in supporting the beneficiaries’ education. The legislator disclosed that the first phase of the award will costs N3.2m, adding that the scholarship will soon be expanded to allow other students to enjoy the support. While assuring students from his constituency of continuous support in other areas, the lawmaker added that gifted students from the communities will also enjoy further assistance. Alhaji Yushau then challenged the students to see the award as a challenge to excel, adding that onus of ensuring that the areas provides skilled labour for state and the nation as a whole rests on all. He then urged his colleagues and other well-to-do individuals in the area to support the students so that they can boast of educated followership in the coming years. Views: 1359
