Coach of home-based Super Eagles, Okey Emordi has defended the list of 30 players invited for May 3 AF African Champion-ship qualifier against Burkina Faso. The former Enyimba of Aba handler who spoke with Complete Sports Tuesday, said the players are the best he could spot from the domestic league. "I took my time to select these players and I am sure they will try their best, I have personally coached some of them and I have also played against some of them, so I have no fear in my mind," begins the former South Africa-based soccer tactician. "I just believe that by the time we train together for two or three days, the players will know one another better and after our first game, we will know the area to improve upon but I am sure we have called up a set of the best players we have in our league." Emordi who looks beyond the qualifying match with the Burkinababes, said he wants to produce a team that will be strong enough to go beyond the concept of home-based team’s Nations Cup. "Despite the fact that we are preparing for domestic players Nations Cup, I want to see a situation whereby these set of players will go beyond that and form the necleous of our real national team," he added. Meanwhile, the qualifying match will be held at the U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar on Saturday and coach Emordi has assured that his players will not disappoint. "We are determined to do our best and Nigerians should support us as well." The Burkinababes are expected in Nigeria today. Views: 1370
