The Action Congress (AC) has described the death of Pa Abraham Adesanya as a colosal loss not only to the Yoruba people but to Nigeria and indeed the black race as a whole.

In a statement issued in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary Alhaji Lai Mohammed yesterday, AC saw Adesanya’s demise at this critical period of our democratic experiment as tragic.

The party described late Pa Adesanya as a national and quintessential leader who was a pillar upon which our modern democratic experiment is founded.

‘’Though death is an inevitable end, we regret that death will snatch our icon of democratic value whose counsel, experience, direction and above all courage are needed to reshape our current democratic experiment and save it from the path of perdition it has been plunged into" the party said.

The statement further described Pa Adesanya, as a courageous, sincere and forthright leader of our time will be remembered as a leader who dedicated his life to the service of democracy, an unarmed titan who dared the tanks and artillery forces of the military tyranny, an astute politician and a human rights crusader of no mean repute.

Though the vacuum created by the elder statesman’s death will be difficult to fill, the AC takes solace in the fact that the late Papa Adesanya lived a fulfilled life and will be remembered by Nigerians as a principled and dogged fighter for democracy whose contribution to the enthronement of democracy and good governance will be remembered on the positive side of history, the statement added.
