The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on all the opposition parties in Adamawa state to support Governor Murtala Nyako, just as the party has saluted the maturity of the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Mr. Joel Madaki for accepting defeat and stretching the hand of fellowship. The call was made in a statement issued by the party’s national publicity secretary, Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali. The statement further urged other aspirants to emulate the sportsmanship and heroic spirit of Mr Madaki. Professor Alkali also implored members of the opposition to accept defeat and join hands with the new administration so that peace and tranquility will prevail in Adamawa state and the country at large. According to the statement, the party believes that Nyako’s re-election is a clear testimony of the peoples’ confidence and belief in his leadership qualities, his acceptability, steadfastness and his vision for Adamawa state. Professor Alkali pointed out that Nyako’s achievements within the nine months that he was in office, has endeared him to the people of Adamawa state in particular and Nigeria in general. Since the coast is now clear, with the re-election of Governor Nyako, the people of Adamawa State will now reap the dividends of democracy which will be provided by the new PDP government as the years of rancour and bad leadership in the state are over he concluded.
