With a view to motiva- ting Kano Pillars Football Club to im-prove on their wonderful per-formance in the nation’s Premier League, Kano State governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau on Friday splashed N2.6million on the players and officials.

The governor revealed that the money comes on the heels of the pledge he made to the 20 players and 6 officials of club during the team’s Premier League match against Nassa-rawa United in Calarba two weeks ago.

While presenting the sum of N100,000 to each player and official at Royal Tropicana Motel, Sabon Gari, Kano She-karau also announced the approval of two-week camping for the players in order for them to fully concentrate on their two crucial matches.

The governor, who was rep-resented by the state commis-sioner of Information, Culture and Sports, Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi revealed that the state government will continue to motivate the team financially and morally toward achieving the desired objectives in the league.

While expressing his opti-mism that with the current per-formance of the team so far, there is no doubt the club will emerge victorious at the end of the football season, he said the state government as well as the people of the state are keenly interested in the team’s brilliant performance and we can continue to do this toward the success of the team.

Responding, the captain of the team, Abubakar Baleria thanked the state government for its unwavering support and commitment to Pillars, pledging that they will do everything possible to win the league.

Similarly, Kano Pillars boss, Tukur Babangida, also boasted that his team will emerge Premier League champions at the end of the season, but added that the management would not rest until they do.

"We have one foot in and by the grace of God we will win the League at the end of the season," he told KickOffNi-geria.com.

He also revealed the secret behind the success of the club so far this season.

"First of all at the commen-cement of the League we tried to put in place a formidable and strong technical crew, while we carefully recruited quality, hungry for success and dedi-cated players who did not dis-appoint us at the end of the day.

"Another thing is that we always paid our coaches and players’ salaries and bonuses. We do not owe any player and we have paid 80 percent sign-on fees of the players, while the remaining 20 per cent would be paid at the end of the League’s last match," he said.

"We have mapped out our strategies as regards the Cham-pions League. We are only wai-ting to be crowned the League champions before we unveil our plans and move into action as regards the continental assign-ment.

"We know what it takes to play in the continent and we are blessed with a technical crew led by a coach, Kadiri Ikhana, who had led a club to win the compe-tition for Nigeria for the first time. We believe he is not only capable but well experienced to deliver the cup once again to Nigeria.

"We will support him in everyway we can to achieve this. But let us wait till the end of the League after which we will unveil our continental plans. But we should concentrate on the remaining League matches and we don’t also want unnecessary distractions so that we can get to the Promised Land," the Kano Pillars chairman disclosed to KickOffNigeria.com.
