Media Trust has been excellent. It has done very well. Up in the North it has become the most reliable source of information. It is very educative in its news presentation and courageous in its contents.

"I do not care about its being national newspapers; it is all nonsense, what we require is that a newspaper should articulate its news and opinion of its catchments area which is the North. It is doing a good job opening a window to the North.

"We have over 30 newspapers in Nigeria not one of them focuses on the North except Daily Trust. It has done it successfully that is why it is growing. It reports accurately without manufacturing stories. I am impressed that they try to as much as they do to tell the truth.

"The publication is also comprehensive because it covers business, news, sports, foreign and politics which makes it a complete newspaper. It also employs well educated commentators to write for the papers. The international coverage is particularly good and the stock market report, which is quite useful.

Commenting on what he sees as the weaknesses of the paper, the retired media expert says Media Trust needs to improve the reporting ability of its reporters, proofreading and distribution to southern parts of the country.

"Many of the reporters can do better in terms of reporting activities, there is need for training. Technically, Media Trust needs to check its proofreading, there are too many proofreading errors in the papers, which is quite annoying sometimes.

Then they need to penetrate more to all parts of the country for others to know what is happening in the North.

"Also they need to put more efforts for the company to become bigger and stronger, Media Trust needs to get involved in aggressive mark-eting and advert canvassing to be able to sustain itself.

"There is also need for more annual, biannual and quarterly reports of companies in the country, this would attract more readers as they would want to know how their companies are performing.

"I wish Media Trust better performance in the future, I hope the next ten years will be better than the last ten years for the Media Trust newspapers and for the country," he added.
