Even as he spoke exclusively with Sunday Trust on his hospital bed at the Federal Medical Centre Jalingo, where he was flanked by relatives and sympathizers, Sergeant Buinda Kasala, exhibited sufficient traits of a gallant police officer. Eloquent in speech and sharp in articulation, Kasala whose right hand was recently severed by an armed robbery suspect in Bali local government area of Taraba state, gave a vivid account of his ordeal.

Obasanjo Olusegun The humiliation of Nigeria’s ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo is forging ahead, less than a year after he left office. In the past few months, parliamentary committees have exposed allegations of government corruption during his eight-year tenure that sit uneasily with his image as a reformer. Nigeria’s press runs lurid tales of family scandals. Comments (16) | Views: 1776 | Read more... |

Iyabo Obasanjo A ten million naira allegation of graft resulting from a N300 million alleged theft from money that ought to be returned to the national treasury from the Federal Ministry of Health was levelled against the Senate Committee on Health, of which Senator Obasanjo-Bello is chairman. The two ministers in the ministry and others involved in the alleged scam have been arraigned in court by the EFCC, facing several counts of criminal charges. The House of Representatives Committee on Health on its part had quietly returned the money it was offered by the officials of the health ministry. The senate on the other hand had tried to justify that the money it got from the ministry is not illegal since it was used for state purpose when members of the committee went on a retreat in Ghana to review the National Health Policy Bill. A statement from the committee said "the support of the retreat by the Federal Ministry of Health is totally in consonance with Senate rules". Comments (3) | Views: 1137 | Read more... |

NASIR EL-RUFAI Former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, is appearing before the Senate today to defend himself of the myriads of allegations of wrongdoing made against him by many Nigerians who testified before the Senate Committee on FCT public hearing. In this interview, el-Rufai says he has no regrets for allocating plots to his wife and family members. He says the probe would enable him to clear his name, but it would be of no profit if it is mere witch-hunting. Excerpts: Comments (15) | Views: 1251 | Read more... |
